I have been working hard on my home office and craft room. Being selected as a participant in the Leviton Renu Challenge lit a fire under me to get it done! I have had so many awesome craft room ideas for so many years. It's exciting to see them come to fruition.

Hopefully you all saw my mood board inspiration for this room. I set out to create a neutral shell for the room, that would allow the jewel tones and metallics in the room to really pop. So, I painted the room a soft gray color and added a stunning black and cream rug to the floor. With my foundation in place, I got to work adding pops of color and implementing all of my craft room ideas, which you can see for yourself in just a minute.

A quick word about my color palette. I wanted a neutral backdrop that would serve as a blank slate for my creative ideas. Then, the pops of color provide a high energy for the room, which will come in handy for keepingmy creative juices flowing :)

I will warn you that this post is photo heavy. There will be tons of tutorials that stem from this room, so for nowaccent pillow case baby burlap nursery, just sit back, relax and enjoy the photos :) The good news for now is that there is a source list at the end of the post. If you see something you like, you can find out exactly where we bought it OR how we createdit ourselves!

Now, let's take a look at the before photos again {these photos show the remnants of our twin girls' nursery}. This post contains someaffiliate links. You can read my full disclosure policy here.

And now, the glorious after! This is the view when you walk in the room.

Another full view of the room from a different angle.

And here are some more detailed views of my desk area. I LOVE my desk. You will learn more about it in a future post {and see how two separate desks used in conjunction with each other give me loads of flexibility}, but for now know that I purchased the components at Ikea and spray painted the fabulous hairpin legs with gold metallic paint. So happy with how it turned out!

One of my favorite touches in the room is the art that I made for the room {the tutorial for the bird art can be found here and the tutorial for the Silhouette sketch pen quote art can be found here}. The bird art has special meaning to me, as does the quote you see on one of them. It's a quote from an Erin Hanson poem. Thefull short poem by Erin Hanson is:

For reasons I won't bore you with now, this quote speaks to me more than you could ever imagine. So I knew I had to have it in my home office/craft room and bird images go along with it perfectly. I am beyond inspired by Erin's words and love that I have them hanging on my wall, directly across my desk so I can glance up and see them whenever I need some motivation.

I also love the fabulous piece of furniture that the bird prints are hanging above. It's a special piece that was given to us by Joe's family. We used it in our girls' nursery, but I gave it a bold, graphic paint job before putting it in my craft room. You can see the full tutorial here. It provides fabulous storage for ribbon, paper and other craft supplies.

And there are no words for how much I love this piece against the gorgeous rug from Rug USA.

I was able to incorporate another very special piece into my home office/craft room–;my grandmother's sewing cabinet. It was passed on to my mom and she gave it to me many years ago. It's full of thread used by both my grandmother, my mom and now me. It's a mess, but I kind of love it that way. I hope now that I have a dedicated craft room, I will start sewing more.

And now, I have to take a moment to talk about the awesome Leviton Renu devices and explain my color choice. I chose of “;White on White”;Renu outlets and switches. I originally selected “;Gold Coast White”; hoping they would pick up on the gold accents in the room, but they were a bit more almond than I had hope for. In the end, I am THRILLED with the White on White color. I love {and I mean LOVE} that they are not shiny–;shiny switches show fingerprints! They blend nicely into the wall and don't detract from all the colorful accents in the room. And if I ever do want to change the color, I can do it in a matter of seconds. I am telling you, these Renu devices are awesome. You can appreciate how they blend into the background in these photos.

Isn't that fabric you see STUNNING?! I can't wait to share with you how I used it on my chair {you won't believe it} and how I added a band of fabric to my plain Ikea curtains. I just love it! I used a coordinating fabric to add “;DIY SUPPLIES”; to the curtains on that now close off the closet.

Now, what craft room would be complete without FABULOUS craft room storage?! I love this wall storage that I got from Ikea. It's intended for use in kitchens, but it's perfect for crafts. I painted the silver rails gold and voila…;perfection!

I added some personal touches, like the “;BE BOLD”; printable from the awesome Prints by Poppy Mae Etsy shop. I also added some family photos so I can feel like I am surrounded by the people I love most when I am crafting away. I also added some cork tiles {some covered in fabric, some not} so that I can pin up ideas from magazines, etc. I also added my ceramic chalkboard that I made some time back to jot important notes down. I adore how this gallery/storage wall came together.

And I have to say a little bit about the lighting fixture. I have wanted this quirky light fixture from Ikea for a long time, but I never had a room that I felt it would work in. Well, I think a craft room is a PERFECT room for a bit of whimsy and quirk, so I went for it and am so glad I did!

It was so fun adding gold touches to the room. I spray painted an old lamp that I had and found these fabulous gold scissors and stapler at Target {they are part of the fabulous Nate Berkus line}.

Whew! That's a lot of photos, huh? I hope they give you a flavor for what I have done with the room. What do you think? Is this a room you could craft in?

Want to remember these craft room ideas and/or sources for later? Be sure to pin it! Oh, and be sure to check out the room reveals by the other Renu Challenge participants–;the photos will be posted some time on September 8th!

Are there any similarities between an owl and a new parent? For centuries these nocturnal animals have been viewed as wise and protective creatures…nocturnal, wise, protective….hmm, does that sound familiar to you?

Hello friends! I am OVER THE MOON EXCITED to now be the proud owner of a Silhouette CAMEO and to have completed my first project with it! Seriously, there are no words. I seriously don't know how or why I ever lived without one of these magical machines. But I will never live without one again. Nope. I may even pack it up and take it with me on vacations so that I don't have separation anxiety by being away from it.
